SUPANOVA Sydney 2009

Talk about a delayed post! My friend and I attended SUPANOVA POP CULTURE EXPO (the Sydney one) on 28th June. So yeah... it was kinda over 2 weeks ago now. But it was SO much fun! Everyone was really friendly and enthusiastic. My friend crossplayed as L and I was Misa, both from Death Note. It was really great walking around in character (that's right, my friend hunched over and sucked on a lollipop for hours on end) and having people approach us for photos or simply to say "L and Misa - Love you guys!".

And now, the moment you've been waiting for... PHOTOS!

I see Edward Elric! I got so excited when I saw this cosplay. I'm a bit of an FMA fan.

Some intriguing interpretations of the Haruhi uniforms. The only Haruhi cosplay that I saw the whole day.

I didn't realise that this guy posed for my photo until I uploaded it when I got home. He was actually mid-conversation with a stall owner but still noticed and gave me a smile. Lulz. (and I wasn't even taking a photo of him specifically).

One of my favourite cosplays of the day - Howl's Moving Castle. But I'm a sucker for all cosplay from Miyazaki films. These guys did a pretty funny skit too. I was sad that they didn't get a place in the cosplay contest.

All the Madman Cosplay Competition entrants. Some of the cosplays included:

Rosario Vampire, Avatar, Naruto, Vocaloid, Gundam, Shugo Chara! and many more. The Gundam 00 group was pretty amazing.

It was such a fun day! I'm already super-excited for Supanova 2010! Next year we will hopefully give the cosplay contest a go too. But in the meantime, SMASH! is coming up in August. Our cosplay schedule is Death Note on day 1, and Shuffle! on day 2. I hope it's as fun as Supanova ^-^
